Cannabinoids - The Miracle Plant's Non-Psychoactive Compounds

Updated: Jun 14

The benefits of cannabis are often misunderstood. Most people associate cannabis with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive compound in the cannabis plant. But this is just one of more than a hundred compounds, called cannabinoids, found in the miracle plant. Research on the health benefits of cannabinoids is on the rise, as is consumption of cannabinoids including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), cannabichromene (CBC) and cannabigerol (CBG). The global CBD market (including CBD products for the pet industry) is already in the billions of dollars and the trends indicate it can grow to tens of billions by around 2025. Dog and Cat CBD treats are gaining in popularity and several CBD companies have launched pet products.

FABCBD products are very high quality with excellent reviews, and their CBD oil is ranked Best Full Spectrum CBD Oil (2022) by Forbes. The products include oils, gummies, softgel capsules, creams, dog treats and superfoods.

Cannabinoid oils and capsules are the primary ways in which I consume cannabis. In this page I will give an overview of cannabinoids and showcase high quality products that can help improve your physical, mental and/or spiritual wellness. While there are hundred plus cannabinoids, there are four that are gaining in popularity and are available as high quality supplements for health conscious consumers: Cannabidiol (CBD),

Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabigerol (CBG) and Cannabichromene (CBC).

Their complete cannabinoid softgels having equal parts CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBC is a product well worth checking out.

Some customers prefer to take cannabinoids as gummies. The Anytime Gummies have 25mg of CBD along with natural ingredients like Organic Turmeric.

There is also Sleep Gummies for nighttime use which has CBD along with natural ingredients like Ashwagandha, a herb used in Ayurveda, the ancient plant medicine of India.

For those like me who like consuming in the format of oils, they have CBD oils in different flavors and strengths.

The new kid on the block, cannabigerol (CBG), is also available as an oil with CBG in different flavors and strengths.

The other format gaining in popularity is CBD cream, made along with healthy ingredients including Aloe Vera Leaf Extract, Cocoa Butter and Coconut Oil.

The latest product line launched by FABCBD is Delta-9 gummies. These contain Hemp Derived, Dispensary Grade Delta-9 THC along with CBD. They are 21+ Adult use only and available only in select states.

Finally, there are also CBD dog treats.

For an official source of information on Cannabinoids I recommend the US Department of Health and Human Services (USDHHS) National Institutes of Health (NIH) page on Cannabis (Marijuana) and Cannabinoids: What You Need To Know. The following is a relevant quote:

Are cannabis or cannabinoids helpful in treating health conditions?

Drugs containing cannabinoids may be helpful in treating certain rare forms of epilepsy, nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, and loss of appetite and weight loss associated with HIV/AIDS. In addition, some evidence suggests modest benefits of cannabis or cannabinoids for chronic pain and multiple sclerosis symptoms.

Regarding medical uses and drugs derived from cannabinoids, the following section is well worth reading:

Has the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved cannabis or cannabinoids for medical use?

The FDA has not approved the cannabis plant for any medical use. However, the FDA has approved several drugs that contain individual cannabinoids.

Epidiolex, which contains a purified form of CBD derived from cannabis, was approved for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome, two rare and severe forms of epilepsy.

Marinol and Syndros, which contain dronabinol (synthetic THC), and Cesamet, which contains nabilone (a synthetic substance similar to THC), are approved by the FDA. Dronabinol and nabilone are used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy. Dronabinol is also used to treat loss of appetite and weight loss in people with HIV/AIDS.

Epidiolex is a drug developed by GW Pharmaceuticals, which was acquired by Jazz Pharma for US$ 7.2 Billion. When Big Pharma is willing to pay billions for a cannabinoid derived drug, that's all the proof needed that the miracle plant has benefits to health.

Disclosure: I (username Adastra) am an investor not a trader. I am bullish on the Cannabis sector as a long-term investment (2026 and beyond), provided stocks/ETFs are carefully picked based on data-driven due diligence. Of the 16 stocks covered in the Best Cannabis Stocks analysis, I have invested only in my top 3 picks: High Tide, Green Thumb and Curaleaf. But my analysis indicates (without any guarantees) that there is a potential for impressive gains in investing in the stocks best ranked in the analysis, including WM Technology, and Trulieve, which have a dedicated page with detailed analysis in the STOCKS category. I reserve the right to buy or sell at any time any of the stocks mentioned in this blog. I do not short stocks and never will short any stock in a company that makes the world a better place.
